With OVUM, egg donation treatment, is a quite straightforward procedure as there is no waiting list and donor availability is maintained at a very high level.
All donors are tested regularly for HIV1,2, HCV, VDRL, HBsAg ,Vaginal swabs,  as well as karyotype and cystic fibrosis. Furthermore, a complete personal and family medical history is taken. Donors remain anonymous and only specific non identifying information may be disclosed to the recipient, such as the donor’s height, weight, colour of eyes and hair, complexion of skin as well as educational level and occupation. Donor matching is determined depending mainly on the physical characteristics, therefore we would be grateful if you could provide us with a photo of you. There is a wide variety of egg donors, so hopefully the decision will not be restricting.

All the donors live in Greece and most of them are Europeans.
We also recruit several Africans and very few Asian donors.
All treatments fulfill the requirements of recent greek legislation which is in principle similar to the British HFEA Act, 1996.

An initial consultation with the recipient is required to explain treatment issues and obtain informed consent. This may take place with Ovum Fertility Consultants in Athens or with one of our associates senior embryologists in London, or with your referring doctor.  Both the recipient and her partner need to be checked for HIV1,2, HCV, HBsAg and VDRL.

There is evidence that up to 1 in 6 couples contemplating pregnancy is or will be facing difficulty.
